Rajasthani Jain Dal Panchamel

– 2 Tbsp Moong Dal (Split Yellow)
– 2 Tbsp Toor Dal
– 2 Tbsp Chana Dal
– 2 Tbsp Urad Dal (Split Black)
– 2 Tbsp Masoor Dal (Red Lentils)
– 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
– Salt to taste
– 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
– 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
– 1 Green Chilli, finely chopped
– 2 tsp Ginger, finely chopped
– 2 Cloves Garlic, finely chopped
– 1 Tomato, finely chopped
– Fresh Cilantro, for garnish
Steps:
1. Wash and soak all the Dals for 30 minutes.
2. In a pressure cooker, add the soaked lentils, turmeric powder, salt, and some water. Cook for 3-4 whistles.
3. Once cooked, mash the Dales slightly.
4. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, green chilli, ginger, garlic, and tomato.
5. Sauté until tomatoes turn soft.
6. Pour this over the cooked lentils and mix well.
7. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
