Recipe:
Ingredients:
– 1 cup Rice
– 1/2 cup Split Green Gram (Moong Dal)
– 1/2 cup Vegetables (Carrot, beans, peas, or vegetables of your choice)
– 3.5 cups of Water, for cooking
– 2 tsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
– 1 Green chilli (optional)
– 2 tsp Oil
– Salt to taste
For Tadka:
– 1 tsp Cumin seeds
– 2 Dry Red Chillies
– 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
– 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
– Few Curry leaves
– 2 Tbsp Oil
– Salt to taste
Instructions:
1. Wash rice and dal together and soak for 15-20 minutes.
2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add ginger-garlic paste, green chilli, and the vegetables. Saute for a couple of minutes.
3. Drain the water from the soaked rice and dal and add it to the cooker along with salt and water.
4. Close the cooker and cook for 3-4 whistles on medium flame.
5. Meanwhile, make the tadka. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Add red chillies, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and curry leaves. Saute for a few seconds.
6. Open the pressure cooker once the pressure is released. Pour the tadka over cooked khichdi and mix well.
7. Serve hot. Enjoy your Masala Khichdi Bowl as a wholesome dinner or lunch.

– Adjust the amount of water based on the consistency you prefer for your khichdi.
