Mixed Dal Khichdi Bowl

Recipe:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Basmati rice,
1/4 cup Mixed lentils (Moong Dal, Masoor dal),
2 tsp Ghee,
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder,
Salt to taste,
1 cup of Water,
1 tsp Cumin seeds,
A pinch of Asafoetida (Hing)
Instructions:
1. Rinely wash and soak the rice and mixed lentils together in a bowl for 30 minutes. Drain the water and keep it aside.
2. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Let it splutter.
3. Add the soaked and drained rice and lentils to the cooker.
4. Now, add turmeric powder and salt as required.
5. Pour in the water and pressure cook till you hear 3 whistles.
6. Lower the flame and let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes before turning off the heat.
7. Let the pressure release naturally. Open the cooker and gently fluff the khichdi with a fork.
8. Serve hot in a bowl.
