1/2 cup Kala Chana (Black Chickpea)
1 large Tomato (pureed)
1 large Onion (finely chopped)
1 small Green Chili (finely chopped)
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tsp Cumin Seeds
1 tsp Red Chili Powder
2 tsp Coriander Powder
1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
1 tbsp Oil
Salt to taste
Instructions:
1. Soak the kala chana overnight or for at least 8 hours. Rinse them well and cook in a pressure cooker with enough water and a pinch of salt until they are well done.
2. Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds and let them sizzle.
3. Add chopped onions to the pan and sauté until they turn golden brown.
4. Now add green chili and tomato puree. Stir well.
5. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt. Stir them well with other ingredients and cook until oil separates from the masala.
6. Now add the pressure-cooked kala chana to the pan. Stir well so that the Chana is well coated with the masala.
7. Cook for another 5-10 minutes on low flame.
