– 1/2 cup Basmati Rice
– 1/2 cup Moong Dal (Green Split Moong Lentils)
– 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
– 1/2 teaspoon Asafoetida (Hing)
– 2 tbsp Ghee

2. Heat ghee in a pressure cooker, add hing and turmeric, sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
3. Add the soaked and drained rice-lentil mixture to the cooker and sauté on medium heat for about 2 minutes while stirring occasionally.
4. Add about 3 cups of water along with salt as per taste, mix well, and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
5. Allow the steam to escape naturally before opening the lid.
6. Give the Khichdi a nice mix and if required adjust the consistency by adding warm water.
7. Serve hot in a bowl, garnishing with a spoonful of ghee if desired.
