– 1 cup brown rice
– 3/4 cup yellow lentils (Toor Dal)
– 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
– 2 tablespoons coconut oil
– 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
– 5-6 curry leaves
– 1 small onion, finely chopped
– 2 small green chillies, slit
– 2 tablespoons grated coconut
– Salt as needed
Procedure:
1. Rinse and soak the brown rice in water for about 30 minutes.
2. Rinse the lentils thoroughly in water and drain. In a pressure cooker or a heavy-bottomed pot, cook the lentils with turmeric powder and salt until softened.
3. In a separate pot, cook the soaked brown rice until it is fully cooked and the grains are separate. Set aside.
